Dr. Martin Brock received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana in 1983 and conducted research towards understanding the mechanisms of interferon action at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London, England. At USC, the research topic was in the area of immunochemistry. Current research topics include an analysis of factors contributing to thermostability in enzymes, particularly enzymes engaged in carbohydrate metabolism and those linked to biofuels production, and the use of learning progressions in science to formulate inquiry-based curricula to improve K-8 physical science achievement.
